Old Wooden Shield

The Old Wooden Shield is a worn, low-protection wooden shield in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, suited to early defensive use and utility rather than sustained blocking.

Its main role is to give Link a basic answer to light attacks, including arrows, while remaining useful for shield surfing and Fuse experimentation. As a wooden item, it can burn when exposed to fire but does not attract lightning. Fusing materials can add practical effects; for example, a Puffshroom can turn the shield into a source of smoke. It appears during normal exploration, including around the Great Sky Island and Gerudo Desert, and is also found in treasure chests and from Soldier Constructs II. The shield is a standard item rather than a unique or DLC variant, and is listed as Hyrule Compendium entry 473.

The Old Wooden Shield is best treated as a basic defensive tool rather than a shield for sustained heavy impact. It has no recorded weapon-specific parry or defensive skill, so its handling follows the normal shield controls rather than adding a special counterattack.
